Biwa Pearls

Biwa pearls are freshwater pearls whose name derives from the area of origin, Biwa Lake, located near the city of Kyoto in Japan. The pollution of the lake led to the reduction and almost complete disappearance of the cultivation in the Japanese lake. Today the production is carried out in areas, biological compatibility, getting pearls with uniformity of light and shape drop/olive obtained from the Hyriopsis Schlegeli oyster pearl.
